Myrskyluodon Maija
Composed By – Lasse Mårtenson
Lyrics By [Finnish] – Jukka Virtanen
Meri jäljet lyö luotoon.
Vaot kallion, ne aalto tehnyt on.
Myös myrkysää tarttuu Maijan muotoon
ja Jannen silmiin leudot tuulet kiinni jää,
Meren ankara työ, heihin merkkinsä lyö,
heihin merkkinsä lyö.
Oppii luodolla kielen.
Karkeaa sarkaa kosketellen.
Kertoo mies terveiset myrskyjen.
Niin jatkuu tuo yhteinen työ taas kunnes saapuu tyynenä kesäyö.
Yhdestä katseesta mies ymmärtää vaimoaan
kuinka hän pelkää tyrskyävää
pohjoista selkää yksin kun jää.
Siis tyynnytelkää huomiset veet
haltijat mies pyyhkii kyyneleet.
Oppii luodolla kielen.
Puhe turhaa on ja lause tarpeeton
Mies aavistaa liikkeet herkän mielen kun nousee aamu
joka miehen matkaan saa.
Katse saattamaan jää.
Vielä tyyni on sää.
Vielä tyyni on sää
| Mary of Storm Islet
The sea makes a mark to the Islet
The tracks on the rock were made by the waves
The stormy weather latches to Maija's figure
and the gentle winds get trapped in John's eyes
The tough life by the sea makes mark to them
makes a mark to them.
You learn the language on the Islet
Words would be too much and sentences can be thrown away
She can guess what he is thinking
She knows the wind that makes him leave
She looks at him when he leaves
The weather is calm for now
The weather is calm for now
When he comes back with his catch
- it's like he knows her better than before
He brings the biggest fish to the shore, yells:
"They will not run away! Scale them!"
He looks at her timidly
while touching coarse patch of cloth
He brings her greetings from the storm
That's how life goes on untill calm summer nights.
From one look he understands her
how much she is afraid of the roaring
open sea to the north when she is alone
"Please, calm the waters tomorrow,
spirits", he wipes away tears.
You learn the language on the Islet
There is no reason to talk and sentences are useless
He can guess what she is thinking
when the morning that makes him leave comes.
Her gaze follows him.
The weather is calm for now
The weather is calm for now
